New features in Mastercam X8 look to improve productivity

Mastercam is looking to improve shop floor productivity with its latest release of X8 Mill, adding in new features to boost machining flexibility and speed.

‘Dynamic Motion Technology’ is the software’s latest approach to creating toolpaths, promising a proprietary set of rules to analyse tool engagement and material removal, constantly changing the cut motions based on what the tool will encounter at the machine, optimising the motion before the first chip is cut.

The aim is for radically shorter cycle times when machining, coupled with less deterioration and breakage of tools, and reduced wear on machines.

New colours and digital materials for Stratasys FDM and Polyjet 3D printers

Stratasys’ FDM ASA material is available in eight new colours

Stratasys has expanded its 3D Printing material options, with its FDM ASA material available in eight new colours, and PolyJet process adding 20 new ‘digital materials’.

Launched in September, ASA is an all-purpose FDM material previously launched in ivory and black, although eight new colour options giving it what Stratasys describes as the widest range of FDM colour available.

UV resistant and with matte finish, the material now comes in red, orange, dark gray, yellow, green, dark blue, white and light grey, and is compatible with the majority of the Fortus line-up.
