Dassault Systèmes has acquired a majority share of IaaS provider Outscale

Dassault Systèmes has announced that it has acquired a majority stake in Outscale, a French enterprise-class cloud service provider responsible for running the 3DExperience platform in the Cloud.

An initial investor in Outscale, the move should mean Dassault Systèmesis now able to adjust and control its cloud resources and services to manage peaks in activity, further diversify its industry segments, deploy new features, and provide on-premise, private and hybrid cloud solutions for its customers.

Founded in 2010, Outscale runs 10 data centres in Europe, North America and Asia, having developed its own secure cloud operating system, TINA OS, which orchestrates and automates cloud resources including calculations, storage and networks, thus helping organisations to easily deploy, manage and increase the availability of their cloud platform, including in the most complex environments.
According to Outscale’s website, back in 2010, Dassault Systèmes’ managing director Bernard Charlès alerted the French authorities of Amazon’s supremacy and the governance problems this would result in for French businesses. At the initiative of a necessary French Cloud project, Dassault Systèmes left the public programmes formed by Thalès and Orange for Outscale.

“Outscale has demonstrated the success of its unique cloud architecture by offering enterprise-class cloud resources worldwide, with a data sovereignty compliance approach,” said Pascal Daloz, executive VP, brands and corporate development, Dassault Systèmes.

“Now, we can bring greater value to our customers by fully leveraging this approach to expand our ability to make the 3DExperience platform more affordable and accessible to a greater number of users, as well as extend it to new usages.”
