Shore Design has an immediate position for an experienced & creative Product Designer / Mechanical Engineer to join its successful team in Edinburgh, working with some of the world’s leading household names on a varying range of product development programs. You will be equally comfortable working alone with minimum supervision or as part of a wider project team and at all times bring your own powerful creative input into the collaborative mix, always pushing the boundaries with fresh ideas and technical solutions.The post offers an attractive benefits package & development program.
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience in the detail design and realisation of mass-produced, global products
- Pro/Engineer Wildfire CAD software experience
- Solid understanding of engineering principles
- A thorough understanding of modern DFA & DFM techniques
- Experience of FMEA analysis techniques
- In-depth & demonstrable knowledge of plastics and sheet metal design
- Proven materials knowledge and materials selection
- Understanding of electrical component packaging, EMC & PCB design
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of the full product design ‘lifecycle’ – initial ideas to pre-production support
- Proven ability to work in a team or as an individual with little guidance
- Professional awareness and appreciation of client focus
The following would be an advantage:
- Ability to generate 2D drawings to BS8888 (BS308) standard
- Mechanism design expertise
- Knowledge of medical device design under ISO13485 process’
- Understanding of Risk Analysis techniques in line with ISO14971
