Baby Aston: aluminium, three-wheeled, wipe-clean

Silver Cross, the pinnacle of matriarchal marvels and a British institution dating back to 1877, has collaborated with another British marque, Aston Martin, to produce a modern baby carriage.

At £2,000, and limited to 800 units being sold exclusively through yet another British institution, Harrods, it will be for infants born with a silver spoon in their mouths – although carbon fibre is possibly more apt.

Built on the precision-engineered Silver Cross Surf chassis, the detailing is predominently styling tuned – striking spoked wheels, alcantara lined seat pad, super soft leather trimmed handle and bumper bar.

An air-ride suspension system is much softer than a Vanquish’s independent double wishbone, but what do you make of this ‘James Bond’ of luxury prams?

As collaboration pieces go it’s not as garish as the usual automotive-consumer good love-child, but at the same price as a second-hand car for cosmetic upgrades on what is already a superb piece of British design, it leaves us a little shaken (and stirred).
