SketchBook Pro for the HP Sprout should take advantage of its 3D scanning capabilities and dual touchscreens

In announcing the availability of Autodesk SketchBook for its immersive Sprout computer, HP is looking to bring 3D scanning into the 2D concept sketching world.

SketchBook users can scan 3D objects directly and manipulate them with Sprout’s stylus and touch enabled workspace mat. The resulting full image or object can be viewed on Sprout’s 20-inch diagonal display and shared.

A September automated update of Sprout software will include free enhancements that claim reduced scanning cycles by 25 per cent and allow professional users to minimise the scanning cycle as soon as they see an acceptable 3D scan.
“SketchBook for Sprout will develop a new generation of artists, designers, and creatives that can take advantage of the immersive computing platform,” said Samir Hanna, VP and GM consumer and 3D printing, Autodesk.

“SketchBook on Sprout will open doors to new uses for individuals and companies needing to combine digital assets and physical elements to truly enhance their projects.”

Autodesk SketchBook and 3D Capture application downloads are available free from the Sprout Marketplace.
