Ultimaker 2+ Connect has added WiFi and ethernet connectivity to its desktop FDM 3D printer, allowing users to send print jobs to it from wherever they are – and importantly, simplifying the installation of multiple machines.

This upgrade on the previous Ultimaker 2+ positions the Connect edition particularly well for SMEs running print farms, or lab or education uses.

“True progress happens when reliable technology is accessible to everyone, everywhere,” said Ultimaker CEO Jos Burger at the launch. “By seriously upgrading our most popular single extrusion 3D printer while maintaining affordable pricing, educators and small enterprises can keep getting their hands-on powerful entry-level 3D printers that simply work, day and night.”

The latest version also offers better user experience via a new 2.4-inch colour touchscreen, an ergonomic feeder lever, and a stiffer build platform, reinforcing ease of use and reliability.

The Ultimaker 2+ Connect features a 0.4 mm nozzle, which the user can swap for a 0.25 mm for detailed prints, 0.6 mm for faster prints, or 0.8 mm for quick drafts, with a 223 x 220 x 205mm build area.

The brand’s entry level 3D printer is not a bad place for beginners, with the Ultimaker 2+ Connect being packaged with free e-learning as part of the Ultimaker 3D Printing Academy. Created by Ultimaker’s experts, the course guides users through setup, maintenance, the use of its 3D printing software, Ultimaker Cura, and more.
