Consumers and manufacturers agree on recycling, IoT and privacy, but not always on the ‘how’

Survey results from Autodesk have found that consumers and manufacturers agree on the value of product recyclability, privacy and Internet-connectivity, yet diverge on the most beneficial attributes of the Internet of Things (IoT). 

The findings come in part out of Autodesk’s recent Accelerate 2015 conference in Boston, which brings together manufacturers focused on product lifecycle management (PLM). 

Almost 60 per cent of consumer respondents in the U.S. survey say they would be willing to pay a 10 per cent premium for a product, such as a home appliance, that can be recycled at the end of its useful life.

MSI launches 17-inch ‘Skylake’ mobile workstation with RAID 0 NVMe PCIe SSDs

MSI is the latest manufacturer to unveil a mobile workstation based on Intel’s 6th Generation (Skylake) Core-i7 and Xeon processors.

The 17.3-inch MSI WT72 mobile workstation features a choice of three processors: the Intel Xeon E3-1505M (2.8GHz up to 3.70GHz Turbo), the Intel Core i7-6920HQ (2.9GHz up to 3.80GHz Turbo) and the Intel Core i7-6700HQ (2.6GHz up to 3.50GHz Turbo).

Dell slims down Precision mobile workstations for Intel Skylake

The new slimline Dell Precision 15 5510, a replacement for the Precision M3800

Dell has completely re-designed its entire family of mobile workstations, featuring a thinner and lighter design and new generation Intel Skylake processors, including the forthcoming Intel Xeon mobile CPU.

There are three 15-inch models and one 17-inch model, to suit all different types of users.

The Dell Precision 15 3510 is a budget 15-inch mobile workstation, taking over from the Dell Precision M2800.

Dell introduces new ‘Skylake’ entry-level desktop workstations

In the second of two workstation announcements today, Dell has released details of its new entry-level desktop workstations, the Dell Precision Tower 3420 and 3620.

Both machines are based on the new Intel Skylake processors (Core i3, i5, i7, and Xeon E3-1200 v5), feature up to 64GB RAM, support new generation M.2 PCIe SSDs and offer optional Thunderbolt 2.
