We often get news of companies adopting new software packages, but rarely is it about the teams designing the machinery more typically used to make other companies’ products – hence our delight to receive news that Mazak has began to utilise PTC Creo and Windchill.

Founded in 1919, Yamazaki Mazak Corporation has grown into a global leader in machine tool production, and its UK subsidiary Yamazaki Mazak UK Ltd, will replace its legacy CAD and PLM software with that of PTC’s latest offerings.

“When you work with a high-volume product range you need a powerful design and PLM solution that can drive productivity,” said Dave Fisher, Engineering Director at Yamazaki Mazak UK Ltd. “Our move to PTC’s CAD and PLM solutions will tighten our key in-house operations, enabling design, engineering and manufacturing to work seamlessly together.
“Additionally,” continued Fisher, “the Windchill PLM solution will enable us to develop a smart, connected factory that will include IoT and augmented reality (AR) for frontline workers.”

“Product design and manufacturing teams are expected to create products more efficiently and cost effectively,” said Dave Grammer, VP for UK and Nordics at PTC. “Displacement of the current CAD and PLM suite of tools with PTC’s Creo and Windchill PLM will give Yamazaki Mazak a variety of specific features and capabilities that will help their designers and engineers create and manufacture better products faster. PTC is eager to support Yamazaki Mazak on its digital transformation journey.”
