Dassualt Systèmes makes $750m sciences acquisition

Dassault Systèmes (DS) has announced it will merge with Accelrys, a provider of scientific innovation lifecycle management software for chemistry, biology and materials, for $750m.

Based in San Diego, the site of this weeks’ DS SolidWorks World user event, Accelrys offers the company molecular chemistry capabilities from discovery to manufacturing.

This, it is hoped, will bring benefits to DS’ formulation-based industry offerings such as life sciences, consumer packaged goods, high tech and energy, as well as advanced manufacturing industries.
