Demand for custom 3D printing solutions continues to grow

Optomec, a supplier of proprietary additive manufacturing equipment and software, has just shipped its 500th 3D printer to its new home at a division of General Electric, which now counts has more than 20 Optomec systems in use.

It’s an interesting world away from the mass produced equipment that we’re used to seeing from vendors, with much of the custom projects Optomec undertakes revolving around short-run manufacturing, upfront wear coatings and rebuild of worn or damaged components.

For 20 years, Optomec has been at the forefront in delivering AM solutions targeted at industry’s most challenging needs, and has invested more than $50 million developing its proprietary, racking up more than 60 patents in the process.
